Youth Crisis Prevention Program
Recent survey data from Erie County reveal significant concerns among young people, including high levels of depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts—especially among older students. Many young people report feeling sad or worthless, thinking life isn’t worth living, and engaging in self-harm behaviors. The report also highlights elevated substance use among those with depressive symptoms, emotional and physical bullying, and a gap in trusted adult supports. These trends underscore the urgent need for holistic, proactive programming focused on mental well-being, social connectedness, and support resources.

Our Mission

To empower Erie County youth to build emotional resilience, healthy coping strategies, and supportive connections—so that every young person feels valued, understood, and equipped to thrive.

The Youth Crisis Prevention Program (YCPP), offers a multi-layered approach—combining emotional skills training, peer and adult support, creative expression, substance-use awareness, and family and community involvement. It directly responds to survey-identified needs, aiming to reduce mental-health risks, strengthen youth support networks, and build long-term resilience. With consistent evaluation and community alignment, the program can evolve to sustain positive youth outcomes across Erie County.
